This edition of the newsletter is inspired by an executive I am coaching who shared this article with me. I've now watched hundreds of elite athletes prepare and compete at the highest levels. A big part of my work has been figuring out what separates the best from the rest.
I find myself consistently stuck on how to identify and maximize my “elite skill.” I seem to help our athletes understand theirs and optimize their path to a higher ceiling, but struggle to identify my own. As I embrace a new role that includes improving systems/teams, and not only singular athletes, I am wondering about strategies to identify and build skills in myself and others that are likely more ambiguous compared to analyzing sport performance. This was quite the thought-provoking read as I navigated between my own performance and the performance of my clients.
